14. Extension activities

Ø  As a member of the investigating team of the project entitled “Assessment of the Ecological/Environmental loss caused by tanneries in and around Dindigul”, identified the tannery polluted areas and assessed the damage in monitory terms- Project sanctioned by Loss of Ecology (P&PC) Authority of India.

Ø  Associated with fabrication and development of community defluoridation plants installed in fluoride endemic villages around Gandhigram.

Ø  Organized village camps for the students of Department of Chemistry in about 10 villages.

Ø  Conducted and supervised classes for promoting science teaching in rural schools.

Organization of Awareness camps

Ø  Organized field camps on environmental pollution due to tannery effluents at Kamatchipuram, Ponnimandurai and Pallapatti.

Ø  Organized field camps on fluoride toxicity: Prevention and control at Shanarpatty, Siluvathur, Kolingipatty, Kavandampatty, Sankarapuram, Murugathuranpatty and Vellode.
