Department of Home Science

The Department was established in the Year 1956. The department offered a three years Diploma in Rural Services in Home Science till 1976. When the Institute becomes a Deemed University, the nomenclature was changed to B.Sc Home Science. Towards progress the Department introduced M.Sc in Home Science Extension (1984), Ph.D (1989), M.Sc Food Science and Nutrition (2003), M.Phil in Food Science and Nutrition (2006) B.Sc Textiles and Fashion Design (2012) and M.Sc Textiles and Fashion Design (2018). The Department has generated Rs.83.5 Lakhs through funded research projects in the last five years. The Department is working towards empowerment of women and children through research, training and extension. A Day Care Center for children is managed by the Department. The faculty members of the department are serving in various committees at State and Central Level.
